“I am perfect.”
This statement was one of the most challenging concepts to accept.
The answer is not at all farfetched.
I am not perfect.
I struggle with plenty.
I grew up on God, but He didn’t make sense a lot of the time.
It was easy to believe when I had just homework to worry about as a kid.
I grew older, and life hit me square in the face.
The truth is that I wasn’t ready. Not really.

Besides all these, I found I had a penchant for books.
It wasn’t the good kinds.
I couldn’t have sex because it was an unstated law in my house.
But I could live precariously through romance novels.
The sordid kind.
I knew it was wrong, but it was hard to let it go.

After a while, I became outstanding at pilfering.
It wasn’t that I lacked anything.
It was just great to have someone’s coffers.

I could go on and on about some of the struggles I have faced.
Some I have overcome, others, God is still weaning me.

The point is that no temptation has seized me that is exclusive to me.
It means that we all stumble in different ways.
And because nobody likes to be vulnerable, we act like we have it all together.
None of us have it all together, but some of us have met and accepted the One who does.

He calls us perfect.
And we are perfect because He has taken our sins, struggles, bad habits and nailed them to the cross.
We are free and perfect because He made us so.

Yes, we mess up sometimes, but we are perfect, still.
We are working towards what we already are.

We do not work alone.
For it is God who works in us to will and do according to His good pleasure.
And the grace of God has appeared to us, teaching us to say no to ungodliness.

So next time you hear that whisper that you are alone in your struggles and that you will fail?
Tell the devil to shut up.
You have many brothers and sisters standing with you.
You have the One who defeated death, hell, and the grave standing tall within you.

You are perfect!
