I woke up on Tuesday morning with news that the electric current at our house was low. It was depressing because we had just come out of a season of light out. I got into the day and tried to stay optimistic and productive. I watched several episodes of the chosen until my phone battery began to protest. If you haven’t seen The Chosen, I recommend you do. That series is an encounter.
Even though there was light flickering in the bulb, it was useless.
I went out that evening to get stuff for dinner, and I discovered to my surprise the whole community had functioning electricity. I went back home and realized that my neighbor’s light was also working fine. Everything changed at that moment. I became aware that the problem only affected my house. Then I started praying. It is funny, yes? The minor discomfort became a problem when I realized it was just my house.
Although I knew that I could pray, I didn’t do so until I felt stuck. Isn’t it wonderful that God would pick up the phone when we realize our need for Him and place a call to Heaven? Don’t wait till you get stuck and frustrated. Seek His help immediately.
I began declaring that the light would come on. I did this and kept at it for several hours, but nothing happened. I became discouraged, so I called my younger sister and dad to inform them about the light situation. I wonder why I did cause they didn’t have a solution. I’m grateful I did because I got to speak to my mentor, who was with my sister at the time.
He encouraged me to keep declaring that the light comes on, and I said I have, Dad.
I was indeed frustrated, so I went to my room and lay down until the rest of the family showed up. My dad and sister came in, and ten minutes later I heard a shout. I ran out of my room to a whole electric current. I was ecstatic and so thankful.
I told the Lord thanks for looking past my shaky faith and answering my prayers.
I read something Rick Joyner said later that day. It was powerful and convicting. He said, when Peter walked on water, he walked on the word Jesus had spoken, COME! The word of God is more tangible than the whole universe. If God says it, you can trust His promise.
In the wee hours of the morning, my sister informed me that the light was low again. I turned over and slept. I knew God had it covered, and I was right.
My mentor had told me the devil would try me at another time, so I was ready.
God had proven faithful the previous day, so I knew He would keep right at it as long as I held on to His word. And He did.
