THE EXTRAORDINARY!

I’ve always had a flair for the dramatic. I’m not talking about relational drama or life drama. There is already too much of that, plus what good are those? I’m talking about experiencing extraordinary things in God. I know God is spectacular so, I’ve always wanted something I considered significant.

As a teenager, my Pastor had experienced the dramatic. He had an encounter with Jesus and, they floated in the clouds while they spoke. For as long as I knew him, he talked about that experience. You could tell it was an encounter that changed his life completely. He was never the same again.

With exposure like this, I craved the spectacular. I couldn’t condone ordinary. I gave my life to Jesus in 2010 but, I didn’t experience the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues until 2012 because I was craving the extraordinary. I expected the words to reel off my tongue by some supernatural force. It never happened. I finally understood that I just had to receive the Holy Spirit. It was so simple that I had missed Him for two years.

I went for a retreat in 2019 and, after spending three nights, I didn’t get any supernatural visitation or an angelic presence, or even a dream. I was so mad at God and disappointed. I went over to my mentor’s immediately afterward and, we talked. We went through everything that happened and, she helped me see that I had experienced some encounters in God’s word but, I missed it because I had boxed Him in a corner.

God is amazingly patient. You would think I had learned something by now but, I hadn’t. The other day while praying with my youth group, I felt the unction of the Holy Spirit so strong and, I got so excited. I thought to myself, yes, this is it. It’s about to happen. It’s about to be spectacular. Finally!

Right then, I heard the Holy Spirit say we’re stepping into a new realm, not by sight. By Faith!

I thought I would be disappointed, but I got so excited. I began to prophesy to the group. It’s going to be a walk of faith. Yes, we will see strange things but, our walk will be by faith.

Recently I was talking to a friend, and he said something that blew my mind. He said, “Jules, there are various forms of extraordinary. What you think is the extraordinary is not the only form of it and, when you hold God by faith as He has asked you to, you will discover other forms of extraordinary. You will become a pioneer of these forms of extraordinary that He will show.”

You cannot box God. Your job is to keep following.

  2. Hmmm!
God will be unfair to show us the tip of an iceberg our little mind can capture when there is the whole iceberg for our taking! Oh that we can interprete HIS denials as an invite to more…

  3. God is so artistic; always painting colourful things using different medium. To box Him is to lose Him.
O that we will truly learn to let Him flow as He wants in us.
    Thank you Jules.
