Don‘t get me wrong. I’ve been more or less doing the count down. I mean, there was Christmas and the whole world celebrated Christmas so I had to know the end of the year was fast approaching and bringing with it a new year.
Yes, so I knew a new year was upon us. So new year’s eve came and I went to church cause it’s just great to start the new year in His presence. And the service was amazing even though I had to get up a lot of times to ward off sleep. The excitement and activities of the day must have gotten to me.
Anyway, I’m standing by the door when I suddenly look up and spot the clock on the wall. It’s wait, what? 12am. More than that, we’re no longer in 2017. Just like that… Bam! It’s 12am and we’re in 2018.
I can’t say I was happy or excited… I was actually scared. It felt so unreal yet the reality was staring at me in the face. The whole 12 months looming over me.
The service ended and I went to sleep. I woke up feeling a little worse. So I got down on my knees and talked it over with God. I didn’t feel better all at once.
I watched Channels for a bit and there saw that there was a protest in Iran and ten were already dead. And the Liberians have a new president in whom they have so much expectations. And some life influencers were born today. Chaz B, being among them but he’s dead.
All these events have no real connection to each other but they made me realise how fortunate it is to be alive at this time. Know why? There’s so much to do, so much grounds to cover, and a legacy to leave for others to follow.
If you, like me are filled with trepidation over the new year, you need to throw that with last year’s trash. It’s still day one, though almost gone.
Sit down and think about what you could do differently this year, how much you can achieve this year, how many lives will be influenced positively through your words and actions.
And set it in motion. Commit your plans to the Lord and get to work.
You could look down the twelve months next year, 2019 with satisfaction and new visions or you could do so with regrets. The choice is ultimately yours and what you do every day this year determines how far you’ll go.
Live Intentionally!
Happy New Year Folks!
I clicked on this mistakenly but then this rings relevantly too much in me to have been a mistake or coincidence.
Thank you for this Jules.
