Today, for me, was one of those days that you actually wish never happened. I was kinda devastated because the one thing that could actually make things brighter didn’t happen.
So I’m sitting, wondering why the year is coming to an end and everything looks so bleak.
You know that thought, ‘when it seems things can’t get worse, they actually do?’
Well I’m sure a lot of people experienced some real down times this year and you’re left wondering if things will actually get better.
Truth is, a lot of times, things actually get worse before they get better. No, I’m not saying that to scare you or me, even. I’m just basically saying you’re not alone.
Ask Steve Harris, the now CEO of EdgeEcution. He doubled as a college drop out, left a ten thousand naira paid job to serve under Fela Durotoye until he found his big break which came disguised as a problem.
His younger sister graduated from the university, got a job in an airline and even got a car that Steve had to say a prayer for. I can actually relate with the feeling of humiliation even though he would be kinda happy for her. It’s just mixed feelings all around.
The thing is, everybody goes through something. And what you go through becomes your story. It isn’t pleasant at the time but it serves to build you into the person you ought to be; the person God wants you to be.
Check out Steve Harris’ book, ‘From College Drop out to Corporate Sell out’. A life and business strategist, his story is one that inspires me every single time. He wouldn’t have had anything to write about if he hadn’t gone through the stuff he went through.
So whatever you’re going through right now, it’s all part of the story. Don’t despair. Don’t give up.
Even on your bad days, keep smiling. You’re alive, aren’t you? You will come out bigger, better and with a remarkable story of your own!
P.S. Gold doesn’t come out as gold without passing through the fire of refinement. Nothing good comes easy. Take your process in stride. You will come out as gold!
