“Black Moses, Go Home.

A voice unto my people,

Feed them!”

Those were the words God spoke to Chaz B while he was living in America with his family. And just like that, like Father Abraham, he left everything that meant a lot to him and moved to Nigeria with his family. Aren’t we blessed Nigeria? His move to Nigeria was as quick as he could manage considering the situation and his interpretation of God’s message was really not unusual.

Thinking God meant His people were starved, he began to feed them. With the support of his virtuous wife they made food available to specific locations in no small quantity.

After a while God told him, “No son, that isn’t what I meant.”

God didn’t just tell him what He meant, He showed him and opened the way for him. He was working in a radio station in Abuja(Hot FM) when Inspiration FM called him from Lagos. They wanted to run a show and he(Chaz B) was the best man.

Chaz decided to pray because they needed a name for the programme. After praying, God dropped the scripture, Proverbs 4:23 in his heart.

“Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it flow the issues of life.”

So there it was!

Life Issues!

After some deliberation, they called it, “Sharing life issues with Chaz B.”

Interestingly, the programme wasn’t centred around Chaz B. Jesus was the very focus and the people.

If there was anything peculiar about Chaz B, it was his love for people. He didn’t just play host or entertain while he was on the air and go to sleep afterwards. He really cared for people. He was totally interested in the problems people faced and was more than willing to help. He talked with people a lot and prayed a lot more. He unselfishly gave of himself to strangers a precious gift- his time, resources and prayers. I guess he understood how fragile and fleeting life is, because he gave completely to people who could give nothing in return, all the while staying true to himself and not forsaking family for the assignment. He lived a balanced life, never taking his eyes off Jesus, the author and finisher of his faith.

I don’t know that talking about him or writing about him helps to ease the hurt or soften the blow of his abrupt departure.

What I do know is that a man like Chaz B should never be forgotten.

He left his footprints on the sands of time.

He is a Legend!

A Hero!

A man that was loved in life as well as in death.

Above all, he is a model of the kind of life God expects us to live. Of course he made mistakes. He was human after all and was entitled. However he learnt from every mistake. He got up after every blow and didn’t let setbacks deter or limit him.

He lives on in our hearts and his righteousness continues to speak for him.

You too can be remembered fondly. You just need to set your eyes on Jesus and guard your heart with all diligence. I bet Chaz B would have said the same thing.
