On Sunday, December 20, 2015, a cataclysmic event that will surely go down world history occurred. It was truly a devastating moment, not just for the three most important people involved but for several countries of the world as well.
It was a costly two minutes of being awarded one of the greatest honorary awards only to have it snatched away. It was truly horrific. As I and so many nations of the world watched the excited reaction of the Colombian beauty queen as she was crowned “Miss Universe 2015” we couldn’t help but be happy for her.
That explains the horror and loud gasps of intense shock and disappointment when Steve Harvey, the well acclaimed host of the pageant, “Miss Universe 2015” tilted the ship greatly by his announcement; “I have to apologize. The first runner up is Miss Colombia. Miss Universe 2015 is Miss Philippines.”
In the words of Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, “It was very humiliating for me. I was like, Oh My God! I’m not Miss Universe now? What am I going to do now? Everyone is going to laugh and make fun of me.”
Miss Universe, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach said, “I was so excited I won but I was concerned for Ari. I couldn’t celebrate just yet because the girl beside me was broken.”
Steve Harvey was disconcerted by the whole incident and said as much; “It was a difficult time for me and my family. There were death threats and I’m just thankful for the support of my wife, Marjorie Harvey. However, my real concern is for the two ladies. I feel terrible.”
It was an unusual occurrence. Pia experienced some of the worst kinds of cyber attack. Steve, as well as his family received death threats. The mistake was costly but the consequence was revolting.
I, as an observer thought about these things carefully. For days I wondered why God will allow something so despicable to happen. Steve is a good man and hard as I tried, I couldn’t fit comfortably into his shoes. It was just so hard, so embarrassing and depressing. That was a live broadcast for goodness sake.
I couldn’t imagine how Ariadna would be feeling. She was clearly so excited but more than that, she had worked really hard. To have all her dreams fulfilled in one moment of crowning and dashed in the split second it took to remove the crown from her head must be a nightmare she relived constantly.
And then there is Pia. Although she was crowned “Miss Universe 2015” and given all the luxuries that accompanies the office, having the whole of Colombia and who knows what other nationality against you isn’t exactly an appealing welcome or a great way to start the year.
Finally I understood. Indeed God isn’t crazy. Everything happens for a reason. Let’s start with Steve. He is even more popular than before, has a larger audience and the best of all, he is hosting the pageant again. He has got the forgiveness and friendship of both Pia and Ariadna. He has God, his family and he’s on to a great year.
The whole incident gave Ariadna more popularity than she’ll ever know. She’s young, intelligent and beautiful. She’ll be getting really amazing opportunities. Think about it, she’s probably the most famous miss universe contestant of all time. I believe she’s going to have a truly exciting year.
And now we’re down to Miss Universe 2015, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach. From her story, we can conclude that her struggle was real. God did pay her back in an amazing way. She has the crown, the title and the benefits. She has the support of so many fans that have since increased following the incident. She is courageous, vast in knowledge and a real beauty queen. Let’s just say she’s going to have an amazing year and the sky is just her playground.
So, yeah, by now I’m sure you agree with me that everything happens for a reason. So next time you’re in a fix, Relax. God’s got your back! Remember, when you think it’s gone wrong, it just might be coming together for good!

  1. Wow! This is really inspiring. In every gloomy situation, there is always a bright side. I’m sure this event has done more good than harm to the career of the parties involved.
